A story of resilience
We are American citizens of Bhutanese origin, heirs to the ancient Vedic Hindu civilization. Evicted from our homeland and having spent decades in refugee camps in Nepal, our families held fast to their faith, language, and culture — and that strength became the seed of GBHO, first sown at the Bhutanese Hindu Conference in Charlotte on January 1, 2014.

A living tradition
Yagyas, pujas, katha, and bhajans; Gita classes for children and for mothers' groups; tabla, harmonium, and dance classes; Sanskrit and Nepali language instruction. We pass the tradition on the way it has always been passed on — from one generation to the next, in practice, not just in words.

Seva in action
Blood drives with the American Red Cross, coat and blanket distributions in Columbus, neighborhood cleanups, health and wellness fairs, and pandemic relief reaching families in the US and Nepal. Seva — selfless service — is one of our oldest teachings, and our volunteers have given tens of thousands of hours to live it.

A Week of Sacred Fire and Scripture at Om Center

Om Center Divya Dham: A Sacred Home for Bhutanese Hindus
In 2022, GBHO acquired 150 acres of land in Galion, Ohio, to establish Om Center Divya Dham — a religious, spiritual, and cultural center for the Bhutanese-Nepali Hindu community in America.

GBHO: Our Story of Resilience and Devotion
The story of GBHO is a story of a community that preserved its faith, language, and culture through decades of displacement — and rebuilt a spiritual home in America.
This place was built by volunteers
More than 550 volunteers have given over 15,000 hours to build and run Om Center Divya Dham — clearing land, planting pine trees, raising the program shed, cooking for festivals, teaching children, running daily yoga classes. Whatever your skills and time allow, there is an opportunity for seva here for you.
